| Arrival We will meet in Mallaig, the gateway to our destination the Isle of Eigg and will board the Caledonian Macbrayne ferry. Upon arrival at Eigg, we will be met by Sue our host and taken to our accomodation by mini bus. It is a short walk and many people prefer to do the walk, to enjoy their first views of the Island. During our time together Eigg is a small island but there is much to photograph and much to return to as well for the odd repeat visit. We will choose our locations depending upon the light, but you are free to spend time on your own if you wish or even stay in bed! Each day will consist of the following loose format: 4:00 - 8:00 Sunrise Photography This can easily be a good hour or three of concentrated photography time after which we will return to the Barn for a much earned breakfast. 9:00 - 10:00 Breakfast 10:00 - 12:00 Rest Period We each need some time to relax, freshen up and perhaps take stock of what we've been doing this week. 12:00 - 1:00 Lunch 1:00 - 3:00 Afternoon critique Each day we will pick a handful of images from the days shoot to discuss and I will cover aspects such as composition, cropping, lens choice, quality of light and perhaps even show you some of my own work for comparrison. 5:00 - 6:00 Dinner 7:0 - 10:00 Sunset Photography Back out on location for the evening. Departure On out final morning on Eigg, we will be transported back to the pier to catch the ferry back to Mallaig on the mainland. Getting to the Workshop There is an excellent rail network from Glasgow to Mallaig. Train times have not been published for 2010 as yet, but they tend to be the same every year, so I've given you the times below, as to how they appeared in 2009. I will update these to reflect the published times when they become available. In terms of getting to the workshop it is advisable to take a train from Glasgow directly to Mallaig the dat before and stay in a B&B. Sunday There is a train that leaves Glasgow at 12:20 and arrives at Mallaig at 17:43. Saturday The ferry coming back from Eigg arrives in Mallaig at 14:05. The train leaves Mallaig at 16:05pm and arrives in Glasgow at 21:29pm. To book the train: http://www.scotrail.co.uk/buytickets/index.html |
